This is a great meal for breakfast in bed. You must know that preparation last long, so don’t expect to make English muffin breakfast strata fast!
Ingredients needed are:
• 1/4 cup butter, or more if you need
• 16 ounces (1 package) package ground pork sausage
• 12 ounces (2 packages) English muffins
• 8 eggs (large)
• 2 cups of sour cream
• 4 ounces (1can) drained, chopped green chilies
• 10 ounces Cheddar cheese, shredded and sharp
• 8 ounces (1 package) shredded mozzarella cheese
The first thing you must do is to heat a skillet (large) on a medium heat and stir in sausage. You must cook it until sausage is evenly browned, no longer pink and crumbly. This takes about 10 minutes. When you are done, drain it and remove excess grease.
The next thing you will need is a lightly greased baking dish (9x13 inches). Cover each English muffin with butter (inside of each half). Then, put them into the prebaked baking dish, top with half the Cheddar cheese, half the mozzarella cheese and half the sausage.
Mix sour cream, green chilies and eggs in a large bowl. When the mixture is good, pour it over cheese layer and the sausage. Try to pour it evenly. Top it with Cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese and with the remaining sausage. Let it chill for 8 hours. Next, preheat oven to 175°C. Bake strata about 35 minutes, until lightly browned. You must leave it aside for 10 minutes before serving!
Preparation only requires 10 minutes, cooking 45 minutes, but cooling time is 8 hours. The good side is that this recipe makes 15 servings, and it is delicious.
