A more common term nowadays that comes along organic food is “certification”,why organic food need to be certified or what are its standards.organic certification is the process through which organic producers can sell or deal with their business.this certification is necessarily required to assure quality of food, prevent any fraud.it also helps in promotion of commerce.
Each country has various requirements for its certification, each have to meet and develop Millennium Development Goals.each certification contributes directly to achieve MDGs.
In some countries this certification is overlooked by the local government so any product having the “certified” tag does not mean it is up to the certification mark or has all the qualities of organic products.
Some countries that does not have any certification authorities, this issue is mostly dealt through non-profit organizations.some of the international certification bodie include International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) that is undergoing its way for harmonization efforts.
During exporting organic products their certification is verified by the importing country, that analyze and match product according to their set standards.IFOAM has a vision to set up a standard of organic certification, that can be used across the globe.
