how to make Gulab jamun with step by step photo:
In a large bowl take cup milk powder, cup all purpose flour and tsp baking powder.
Mix well, Homemade Gulab Jamun Mix is ready.
Now add 2 tbsp ghee and make a dough by mixing well.
Add milk as required and mix well.
Mix well to make soft dough. Do not knead the dough.
Cover and keep for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, prepare sugar syrup by taking 2 cups sugar, 2 cups water, 2 cardamoms and tsp saffron.
Mix well and simmer for 5 minutes or until the syrup becomes sticky.
Switch off the flame and add 1 tsp lemon juice and 1 tsp rose water. Lemon juice is added to prevent the sugar from hardening.
Cover and keep the syrup aside.
After 10 minutes start making small sized round jamuns.
Make sure that there are no cracks in the jamuns, otherwise they may break while frying.
Deep fry in medium hot oil or ghee. Frying in ghee gives a good taste to the jamuns.
Fry on low flame stirring continuously.
Fry till the berries turn golden brown.
Put the berries in the hot syrup.
Cook covered for 2 hours or until the jamuns absorb the syrup and have doubled in size.
Enjoy jamun with ice cream or just like that.
